Police confirmed that at least three people lost their lives in today´s deadly Boston Marathon terror attack as counter-terrorism sources in the city revealed that seven devices were planted across the city - but only two detonated. Law enforcement in the city said that they found what they believed were five additional, undetonated explosive devices around the Boston area. The additional devices were uncovered as police frantically inspected all suspicious packages, many left behind as runners and pedestrians rushed away from the scene in the aftermath of the blasts.

Been on the local news all day that cell towers in the neighborhood were shut down.

While they were running video of people there talking on their cell phones...

I'm more inclined to believe that the people on the street holding phones to their ears were talking on them than that they were all just walking around pretending to talk on their phones.

What makes them think it is just one lone “bomber”? Multiple bombs, multiple locations, multiple explosions and just one guy is responsible? Who is he... The Flash?

It took about an hour before they decided to shut the cell towers down in the neighborhood. You may be seeing people on cell phones before that or outside the affected area. It was not a wide are of cell tower shutdown. anyways, believe what you want. It's a free country for now.

If they had been great, don’t you think the route would have been scanned by police dogs ahead of time and the entire Marathon called off.

They were good, but not great.

The reports throughout the day indicate sniffer dogs were at the start and finish lines. The opinion is that the bomber(s) made their plant after the sweeps. Just how much security do you want in America. The real security should be keeping Muslims out of America by not issuing visas through our corrupt State Department.

If these devices came from designs from some website, whatever they were, they worked good enough and had to come from some experienced group with good designs. However, this also means whoever did it, was able to access some means for testing. In this day, having blasts going off on your property would attract some notice and be quite risky. Having access to a way for testing would be almost impossible. I just can’t imagine something working so well right out of the box, without being tested. In my opinion, making such successful devices is not simple. For that reason, it had to take someone with experience or someone who had access to some way of testing to prefect the performance of such a device. The latter makes it more unlikely. It is the person with experience that I say is the most likely and such came from a terrorist group that does such things frequently.

I am think all of the devices would have worked. However, I think the person who was setting off the bombs made a mistake. That person of interest we hear so much about may have caused the second bomb to go off too quickly and was taken out by his own bomb. He was unable to set off the rest of them.

Lose NYC and you lose all television networks. Hollywood may make the movies but without NYC they will not be shown.

That's changing.

As long as there is an internet, movies will be shown. The rub is, how do the actors get paid?

Cellphones, the triggers for the bomb, don’t work very well in a metal trash can. It’s a Faraday cage.

Try this:

This was on Boston police radio. An officer was talking about people seeing a suspecious man with a black hoodie that was walking around and leaving the scene of the first bombing minutes before it went off. He also said the person was a black male that put the hoodie on before he left the scene.

Timers were unsuitable because the event (footrace) is not a strictly scheduled event. Start time was not assured, and finish time less so. Perp hung around watching for “the right moment” then started making calls. By the time the second went off the cell towers were swamped with 911 and other calls.

You serious? Try calling your phone in a trash can and get back to us.

if it can save just one runner’s life, marathons mustl be banned.

Disagree.

Equip all runners with Kevlar helmets, body armor, and Modern Sporting Rifles.

You're thinking too small.

All competitive sporting events must be banned, because it is too difficult to provide adequate security, plus fostering a competitive event could lead to damaged self esteem in young people and adults.

It appears this bombing was designed not to kill, but to maim. It succeeded at doing just that.

Yes. It could also be a function of a limited amount of explosive material.

Why has NY been considered the Number 1 target? Because it has a the highest population of Jews on the planet? Financial center?

To the rest of the world, NYC is the USA, like Washington, D.C.

I heard that the Boston Marathon may have been the fall-back target, since the NYC Marathon was cancelled last year.

Well yeah. I mean you could also rent the movie too. But I don't watch movies. I don't support Hollywood. Most internet servers run through Times Square, by the way.
