Wasn’t Banda Aceh the hardest hit island in the 2004 tsunami? And wasn’t it a big tourist destination before that, welcoming all those “infidels” & women in bikinis?

I hope the “infidels” are now staying away in droves.

Yep, Banda Aceh was Ground Zero for the tsunami.
The cement plant I had been to right off the beach was 3 miles from epi-center and had no warning before 100+ foot waves hit.

Although its a very beautiful place, never knew Banda Aceh or Sumatra as any tourist destination, primarily because of the mooselimbs. Nearby in Thailand had the tourist beach bikini areas hit hard too.

Why, yes it was. I marveled at the pix of local Asian women in the "hospitality industries" wearing miniskirted Santa costumes, as the tsunami happened on Christmas Eve, IIRC.
