Where were you on Tuesday, April 13, 1971?

In six weeks I would get a degree in chemistry that I would never use, and an hour earlier I would get two butterbars pinned on my shoulder, making me a second lieutenant – an officer and a gentleman – in the Army Signal Corps. Then what? It was one of those moments when you peer ahead and don’t know what is going to happen.
