My only concern has always been in the case of an emp attack or an internal conflict (like CW2) we would be vulnerable to outside invasion or more overt infiltrations and exteernal interfernce. A giant reset button would be a good thing and rid us of all the stupid tv/radio propaganda and shows, video games our people have gotten hooked on as long as it happens on a global scale.

It would be trivial for the Chinese or Russians to wait 6m after an EMP attack to just walk right in. Even in the guise of ‘international assistance’. Most of our cities would have been burned to the ground and most of the population would already either be dead or so weak from malnutrition they’d be little threat to an invader.
The norks already put 4 packages in orbit at the altitude necessary for an emp attack. Detonating just one of these at the right place could destroy everything we currently depend on for clean food, water, heat medical care and any sort of law enforcement.
If we went under that hard and fast, the rest of the world’s economy comes to a halt within two business days. The “global scale” catastrophe you are thinking of would happen. The banking systems that hold US treaduries or currencies for their stuff that we buy, foreign investors, they would be wiped out in seconds after an EMP hit. Once the rest of the world’s banking system convulses and dies, liquidity is gone, for a generation at a minimum.
The subsistence farmer in Mozambique probably would not notice, but any nation with a semi developed economy would be too involved in taking care of their own to mess with whatever we are doing. And the ruling classes / welathy in Mozambique would be in deep poo-poo along with Europe, Japan, and most any other place that has pots to whizz in.
