I would speculate that as atheists, Google sees nothing wrong.

There is now a spirit at work in this country that is openly and actively agitating an anti-Christ message. Google’s action demonstrates this.

Being in California they get a day off for Cesar Chavev. They don't get one off for Easter. So maybe they're just showing their appreciation?
