No fan of Madonna, but the brother is missing a pair of jacks in his deck.

Well—and believe me, I am no fan of hers—the article clearly states that the parents and Madonna have tried to help this guy several times over the years. She has paid for multiple rehab stints for him, to no avail. He’s a hard case that that has never cooperated and tried to kick the sauce. Sad.

He’s not a homeless alcoholic because of her neglect. I’m sure she’d give him money for a treatment center visit.

Homeless alcoholics-addicts aren’t known to be highly reliable authorities on truth.

They are known to be conniving, manipulative, dishonest, cheaters.

But by all means base a hit piece on their words on matters.

Madonna could well have given him $ hundreds of thousands, and we don’t know.

At age 56 he should be clean-sober, dead, but this one still kicks.

If his lips are still moving, he’s probably lying.

Don’t fall for it. I could care less about the rock-star, but he’s not her responsibility.

Not to defend Madonna here, I can understand her reluctance to get a drug addled relative into the fold as he has not hit bottom yet.

I lived this every day for 30+ years. A brother of similar age with a crack cocaine problem and a lengthy history of destructive behavior withing the family. Now that our parents are dead, let him live in squalor.

Barry the Bolshevik on the other hand...his refusal to assist his half brother George is inexcusable. George is not an addict.

I can’t bring up the article on this device, so I don’t know the whole story. Is it possible Madonna tried to get help for her brother, but he refused or didn’t make any effort on his own to get clean?

You can love someone and move heaven and earth for him, but in the end he has to be responsible. He has to take advantage of the help and do some work to reform himself. Otherwise, you just keep enabling that person.

I had that experience with a good friend. When it became obvious that he was never going to even try to get better, I had to cut him off. He passed away 3 years ago from alcohol poisoning. I don’t feel guilty.

Very often people are, deep down, afraid to get better.
They are as addicted to self pity as they are to alcohol or drugs.

I’d give Madonna a mulligan on this one. You can’t help an addict unless he really, really wants help. And that is rare.

White Hut? I give up. Who lives there?

You can’t love someone more than they love themselves. The guy is a homeless alcoholic bum. Giving him money would only enable his alcoholism. And I’ll bet that Madonna has at least offered to send him to rehab but he won’t have anything to do with it.

Ciccone, 56, is a homeless alcoholic

At first glance this sounds like an alcoholic whose family has stopped enabling him.

He’s a walking stereotype of any prog sociology/ liberal arts professor. Prone to fits of rage when challenged.
