Teachers who stomped American flag, Jesus are officially no longer teaching
Yahoo ^ | 3/30/2013 | Yahoo

You don’t tug on Superman’s cape. You don’t spit into the wind. You don’t pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger. And, as two educators have recently learned, it’s also generally good advice to avoid stomping on Jesus and the American flag in public schools.

The Florida Atlantic University instructor who asked students to step on the word “Jesus” has been placed on administrative leave on the same day that the high school teacher in South Carolina who stomped on an American flag in front of his students way back in December finally resigned.

The incident in South Carolina first flared up when Scott Compton, an honors English teacher at Chapin High School in Chapin, S.C., was placed on long-term administrative leave after he threw an American flag on the floor and stomped on it in front of his students.

IIRC, FAU filed academic charges against the student. The whole thing might have died down if not for that.

I’d say that the Administrators are the weapons-grade idiots who need to be fired.

1) They hired and approved the course curriculum in the first place.
2) Then they suspended the MORMON student who refused

On a side note ... I thought Mormons were a cult and were all evil? This was a pretty simple litmus test, wasn’t it? This was the ONLY Christian in the class with the faith to stand up for what he believed in. Not a single Baptist, not a single Catholic, not a single Methodist, Lutheran, Presbyterian - NO ONE ELSE had the guts to stand up for their beliefs.

So, go ahead - flame away at the Mormons - we have a faith and we stand for what we believe in. We don’t need a crowd to find courage, or an opinion poll to tell us what is right.

These clowns are not teachers. They are government indoctrinators. They don’t teach students how to think, they teach them what to think. That’s bull****! That is an indoctrination not an education.

“Compton allegedly repeated the unpatriotic deed three times in one day. His goal, apparently, was to teach students that the flag is merely a symbolic piece of cloth.”

#1 That is an opinion, not a fact.

#2 If that view were to be presented, it could be accomplished without actually defiling a flag or anything else as blatantly provocative and insulting to dissenting views. As in, he could have just said to the class: “some people disagree with the idea of the flag as sacred, and view the flag only as a symbolic piece of cloth” and then moved on to the next subject at hand.

Of course, I’m assuming the teacher is interesting in actually teaching, and not indoctrinating the students with his personal views. Which is probably a bad bet to make.

Trying to lift oneself up by tearing others down? Can you say with any certainty that there actually were Christian students of any denomination present in that classroom? This was a university campus, after all.

Good on him for speaking out, though, it needed doing whether I agree with Mormonism or not.

To: Dallas59; a fool in paradise

The intellectual level of these exercises is high above my head. What do they mean? If the Mormon student (bless him!) who refused, had written on that piece of paper “Beyonce” and stomped on it, would he have been suspended for cheating?

If the “professor” had asked the students to write on it “Burt Reynolds” would that have been OK to the intellects in judgment of this exercise?

Who and why hands doctorates to such intellectual heavyweights? OH, I know, it’s part of reparations, like Obamafoams and foostams and Whoopie’s entire career, part of paying off this group, hoping it’ll stop murdering one another and others, which (the bribery) the country has been doing since LBJ with little result.

And while you are reading this rant, I’ve written the word “broccoli” on an A4 sheet of paper and are stomping on it. Call the cops, quick!

When the democrats decided to remove God or any reference to Our Creator at their 2012 convention. They also demonstrated they are no longer the democratic party of your father’s father. They have become a hyphenated radical unit and should be known as Demo-Coms dedicated to the establishment of a collective idealism using the device of PCP to modify behavior and shed beliefs that they believe would impede remaking their concept of the perfect utopian state. That is hardly democratic because the word democrat idealizes the individual voice.

But Rove, GOPES (GOP Elite Snobs) and RINOS lack the capacity or the understanding or the courage to point to the historic radicalization that occured at that moment and use it politically. Worse yet they are unable to forthrightly defend what the demo-coms have set out to destroy and some are even comming up with their own version of PCP politically correct politics .

Anyone preaching PCP is going down the poisonous road to oblivion . Following a policy of PCP. Politically Correct Politics which the hyphenated democrat party, the Demo-Coms,is using is flat out wrong.Worse yet moral questions such as marriage, sexual practices, family constituency and particularly beliefs those of containing Judeo Christian tenets are being assulted and not defended. That offers a majority of voters no choice in the direction this country is to take.

PCP when used by the Demo-Coms such terms as: Afro-American, Hispanic-American, Asian-American, White-American, Rich-American ,Gay-American, are more than simply nouns but vehicles used to separate US from each other. Beside separating US from our money the Demo-Coms demand we become adhearents to a system without the constituional constraints on government. Thus surrendering our protections from governmental abuses and excessive bureacracy to the will of a bureaucratic collective which is no longer answerable to the average citizen.

Sadly for the Republicans God remains in Limbo

You do realize that it is school BOARDS that hire the superintendents (They hire the administrators)and choose the curriculum. These boards are elected by people like you and me and are made up of citizens that choose to run for the office.

You want different decisions you need different boards.

Point taken. I guess there was only 1 Christian in that class. If there were others, they were certainly disciples of Judas or Paul that day. When given the chance, they denied Christ - and that is something they will carry with them the rest of their lives.

I take that you are of the Mormon faith. I am from/of one of the other denominations you mentioned. Years ago I saw how ‘my’ church was veering from teachings to which I had been dedicated. I too was surprised that there were apparently no other followers of Jesus among the other students at least to stand with the Mormon man. I can only hope and pray that any differences the others might have had with the Mormon religion, as I have, were such that they could stand by and let Jesus be offended. In some ways I am at this day and time reminded about the real events surrounding Jesus.

Thank you for your polite response. I am used to getting seriously flamed for saying things like that. I would like to add to what you said. Not only is this position important because of the education issue, but also the stepping stone issue. It is an elected position and people can use it on a Resume to move up to town or city council and then to who knows where. it is a stepping stone. If we know their agenda here we know their agenda later.

Who said Mormons were Christians? Christians don’t call Mormons Christians. They are Mormons. It’s a doctrinal thing.

The Mormons say they are Christians.

Back when I got into Scientology, I showed my Mormon convert grandmother (the only Mormon in the family) some Scn literature.

The first comment out of her mouth was, "But there's nothing about Christ here!"

She was a Mormon, her very first thought in evaluating a religion was: is it Christ centered?

Please enlighten me as to how that is anti-Christian.

I see a tree. I see its fruits. I know what kind of tree it is.

I’ve never bashed Mormons although I believe that the Jesus they worship is not the one we (Protestants) worship.

I’ve met a lot of Mormons and most of them have great families and take care of their kids and appear trustworthy.
Statistically speaking, is seems the Mormons take better care of their lives and families than fellow non-denominational Christians and that’s sad.

I’m a Christian but if someone I want to do business with sees a Bible in my home office and then says that they’re Christians too, I run from them although I have asked what their favorite book in the Bible is.

Good for this kid.

You can call yourself anything you'd like. There's nothing Christians can do about it. Except tell you that the Jesus you celebrate isn't the Jesus of the Bible. Doctrine is everything. Paul wrote a whole book about it (1 Timothy), and reiterated it throughout his other books.

So if you want to paint stripes on a donkey and call it a zebra, be my guest. But know this: no Bible-believing Christian has fellowship with the Mormon church, and it isn't because of preference in worship. Sorry. I still love you though.

“The Florida Atlantic University instructor who asked students to step on the word “Jesus” ...”

ASKED? No, he directed, instructed, DEMANDED that the students step on the word Jesus. And when one brave student refused, that student was kicked out of his class, reported, and investigated to see if he should be expelled from the school. It was only the public uproar that made the school change its attitude. The only one honorable here was that one student. Yahoo is whitewashing this whole pitiful incident.

I think that EVERYONE on this site that STILL thinks the public school that their kids are in is “Wonderful” should do a bit of research on the South Carolina example.

If you do, you’ll see TWO THINGS. The teacher (who kept stomping on the American flag) is WHITE and that Chaplin, SC has a population of about 1400. I have NO DOUBT that the parents there are also convinced that they’re closely-held public schools are just “Wonderful”. But they hired an Anti-America RADICAL to teach YOUR KIDS...in Chaplin, SC.

You already know this is not a one-time event - so do yourself a favor, DO SOME RESEARCH into who the hell now works in the schools that you’re dumping your kids into. You may not like what you find...but at least you’ll know.
