My feeling is that there is a “full court press” going on and the general public is not seeing the entire picture of what is happening in the name of gun control.

Specifically....

(1) The Sandy Hook Advisory Commission findings. They are pure nonsense, but written to sound reasonable and that high capacity magazines and any weapon that will accept them (i.e. backdoor ban on so call assault weapons & most semi-automatic pistols and many shotguns, due to those firearms being able to be converted to high capacity firearms).

(2) The revelation from Congressman Steve Stockman (R-Texas) that most of the anti-gun Tweet messages to Congress are from spam bots. So the Big Zero and his crew are really setting up a basis to artificially influence Congress and testing their systems prior to the big push.

(3)The Boston Children's Hospital AMA published article on how more gun laws equates to fewer firearm related deaths. This is junk science at its worst and political propaganda. Please explain how banning high capacity magazines cuts down on suicides? Please explain how a so called assault weapons ban cuts down on firearms deaths in any statically significant way, when they aren't used in typical gun violence incidents? But yes, states requiring gun safes for storage will have lower accident and suicide rates. So just which of the Brady Gun Control list of firearms regulations are reducing firearm deaths and is it mostly in the suicide category?

(4) How passage of some gun control laws is getting incomplete coverage. (Did you know that there are 2 to 3 pages of exemptions to the Colorado background check law? Is the general public away that the NY assault weapons ban and high capacity magazine ban require amending so that law enforcement was exempted?) There is a lot of very selective reporting about State level gun control legislation.

(5) Groups that I would expect to NEVER agree to any form of gun control are negotiation behind the scenes. Anyone else see where Alan Gottlieb, of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, offered to support mandatory background checks for all firearm purchases in WA State, if state lawmakers agree to end what some see as a de facto database of handgun owners? When he was asked about this, he indicated that this was the same kind of deal that was being negotiated in WA DC and likely to pass there. This doesn't seem to be widely reported, nor the closed door negotiations back in WA DC.

When I look at what is being reported and what is not being reported I feel like I (and the public) am being played. This is political rope a dope.

My local newspaper has gone off the deep end in its anti-gun stories. It is now fabricating entire anti-gun stories out of one readers letter to the editor, plus some archive photos and reporting this as “news.”

I do know however, the my local democratic State elected officials have had their eyes opened over how widespread, thoughtful, logical, and strongly held comments from voters saying no to any of the State level gun control laws. I have also been writing to my federal Senators and House representative making sure they understand how much I don't want any form of gun control that is aimed at honest people and does nothing meaningful to reduce gun violence.

I also know the Bill Clinton warned the US Congress to be very careful in waking the sleeping giant of firearms owners.

I fully expect a Democratic initiated “hail Mary” pass within the Senate and House, where all kinds of “gun control research” is presented, spam bots overwhelm the legislators, newspapers explode with stories and editorials about how good gun control is and how badly needed it is.

They are going for an end of game play.

The following article also raises some eyebrows and tends to reinforce that there will be a “hail Mary pass” on Gun Control in the House & Senate this year, probably in April.
