Couple this with the relaxed restrictions on knives that actually exceed the size of the boxcutters used on 9/11.

Do you honestly believe that banning pocket knives had any effect whatsoever on passenger safety?

I think the jury's out on that one, considering the numbers of nutcase episodes that have occurred mid-air in recent years. Probably not a threat to the flying crew, but to other passengers, possibly.

ScottinVA has better sense. Body cavity search then the permissible pocket knife is just goofy.
