To say “Iran is not the problem” is denying reality, though. Iran’s the number one state sponsor of Islamic terrorism, and out of any state in the world, they are most likely to use a nuke as an offensive weapon.
And with all due respect to the Colonel and yourself, this thread is not about Saddam. Iran’s made direct threats against Israel, to wit the intent of wiping it off the map. Just an aside, but since Iraq’s constitution both under Saddam and the present Shi’ite-dominated government (both were Islamic constitutions, for the record) named Israel as Iraq’s number-one enemy in the region, Saddam therefore was no different from Iran.
To Olog-hai, I just think with our limited resources, we cannot afford to fight the whole Islamic world. If possible, we must try to preserve a tolerable coexistence with an Iran strong enough to serve as a counterweight to a militant Sunni hegemony. The worst thing for Israel would be to face such a monolith.
