Gabby Giffords' husband (Mark Kelly) buys AR-15
Breitbart ^ | 3/9/13 | AWR Hawkins

Mark E. Kelly, gun-control proponent and husband to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, recently purchased an AR-15 (an "assault weapon," he called it)—which he now says he intended as an illustration of the need for more stringent gun laws.

Kelly reportedly bought the AR-15 and a 1911-style semi-automatic pistol at Diamondback Police Supply in Tucson, Arizona.

Various sources contacted Breitbart News once Kelly made the purchase, and after we began investigating the details surrounding the purchase, Kelly announced on his Facebook that he was not going to keep the AR-15, which he has yet to pick up from the store.

Come on ease up on the guy. He’s just doing his job. After obama changed NASAs mission from space to Muslim outreach, Space Cadet Mark was preparing for his jihad.

“What her husband is doing to her now, dragging her around as a spokespuppet for his political ambitions is an abomination.”

They have a routine (I’ve seen it 3 times):

He talks for a while
She says “Fight, Fight, Fight”
He talks again

Isn’t he looking to step into John McCain’s shoes?

Space Cadet Mark was actually looking for a Uranium PU-36 Explosive Space Mosulatorrrrr, but he couldn’t resist a 1911 and a cool AR.

Maybe that Colorado congress critter called him and told him that since he is in the military he could be suffering PTSD.

Hmm....isn't one of the questions on a 4473 something like -
Are you the actual transferee/buyer of the firearm(s) listed on this form? Warning: You are not the actual buyer if you are acquiring the firearm(s) on behalf of another person. If you are not the actual buyer, the dealer cannot transfer the firearm(s) to you.

Seems to me that the Magnificent Mr. Kelly is making a straw purchase on behalf of TPD.

****I don’t have possession of it yet but I’ll be turning it over to the Tucson PD when I do.****

This reminds me of an incident many years ago when a TV national news outlet went to a gun show and sent in a “ringer” to buy as many guns as he could on money the MSM had given him.
They then filmed the newsman with them, several new pistols including a brand new Beretta pistol, to show how “easy” it was to get guns.

Then the newsman turned to the camera and smugly said....”These guns will be turned over to the police where they will be destroyed!”

I wanted to puke.

Sounds more like he's a straw buyer

Worth a read when given the time to all FReepers.

But as men intent upon hostility have associated themselves in military corps, it becomes your duty to associate likewise-Arm and organize yourselves immediately ....Do you wish to preserve your rights? Arm yourselves-Do you desire to secure your dwellings? Arm yourselves-Do you wish your wives and daughters protected? Arm yourselves-Do you wish to be defended against assassins or the Bully Rocks of faction? Arm yourselves-Do you desire to assemble in security to consult for your own good or the good of your country? Arm yourselves.-To arms, to arms, and you may then sit down contented, each man under his own vine and his own fig-tree and have no one to make him afraid.... If you are desirous to counteract a design pregnant with misery and ruin, then arm yourselves; for in a firm, imposing and dignified attitude, will consist your own security and that of your families-To arms, then to arms

Why would a guy who was an officer in the Navy, and flew a combat aircraft be unqualified to own a firearm unless his mental condition has deteriorated or he was convicted of a felony? Kelly should be pleased that the background checking process is fast and efficient. Does he really think that once his ID information was passed to the federal government that they didn't know exactly who he was?

If he thinks he is unqualified to have an AR-15 then I guess the trust the Navy put in him to fly a combat aircraft loaded with bombs and missiles was misplaced. And if he can't trust himself with a firearm why on earth did NASA trust him with the space shuttle?

So he was a straw purchaser?

Maybe he bought it from a police-supply store so he could avoid the 15% excise tax on the firearms. He should have a letter from his police chief stating it is intended for duty purposes, which gets filed along with his 4473.

Or maybe he just showed his astronaut badge, and that was good enough for them. Or maybe he got an over-the-phone waiver from DOJ.

Hell, buy a couple plastic "blue guns", and you won't scare the crap out of people by sweeping them with a real weapon. Still a no-class move by our self-proclaimed "firearms safety advocates", but that just makes you a jerk, rather than a threat.

During the Senate Assault Weapons Witch Hunt, Kelly was sitting at the opposite end of the Witness Table from Wayne LaPierre.

When Senator Cruz started asking LaPierre about the silly notion that adding a Pistol Grip to a regular Semi Auto Rifle changes how the Gun operates, Kelly got up and left.

Apparently the Truth hurts, not to mention the fact that his Wife was shot with the CHAMBERED ROUND in the Glock, not the seventh, tenth or twentieth Round in the Magazine.

The first Round was the only one that injured his Wife and it sure as hell didn't come out of the business end of an Evil Black Semi Automatic (NOT Military Select Fire) AR-15. If someone in my Family, or a Friend, was hurt or killed when attacked by a CRIMINAL, I would want the CRIMINAL punished, whether they used a Gun, Knife, Baseball Bat, Pipe or a Chevy Suburban. Using Liberal Logic, if a guy kills someone using Karate, we should put their Karate Instructor on Trial alongside them.

Great photo - and solid documentation of the hypocrisy of liberal politicians. When they are trying to get elected those awful AK-47s aren’t so awful are they?

Didn’t he say he’d already had a background check? Then why is he surprised that he’s able to buy another weapon without another background check?

I assume Markie Mark realized from his wife’s experience that being an elected federal legislator is a real gravy deal.

Now he’s working on his liberal bona fides to get elected.
Just like Kerry, Hagel, etc he’s a “veteran” so any criticism from the right is just labeled hate speech.

The “one a month” rule only applies to Pistols purchased in CA. Long Guns are exempt, FOR NOW.

We still have that dandy 10 day waiting period though. Just bought myself a Ruger 10-22 Takedown. Counting the days until I can pick it up.

I’m sure if I had walked out of the Store with it WHEN I PAID FOR IT, I probably would have robbed a Bank or done something even worse.

Thinking back to the good old days when my Dad gave me a .22 Semi Auto Rifle (bought at Sears) and a .410 Single Shotgun when I was eight years old.

All these years later, and with all the guns I have owned during that time, I have yet to murder as many people as Ted Kennedy did in his Oldsmobile.
