n his Tuesday show, Fox News Channel’s “The O’Reilly Factor” host Bill O’Reilly unloaded on his show regular Alan Colmes for being unable and unwilling to name a specific program President Barack Obama would cut, other than the entitlement programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
Colmes attempted to make his case, but the harder he tried, the more heated the discussion became:
COLMES: I disagree with what he is being said here. dollar. $2.50 in tax cuts for every dollar in tax increases. O’REILLY: That’s not specific. COLMES: Yes, he has. He has offered cuts in Medicare. He has offered cuts to entitlements. O’REILLY: That’s not specific. He has to say here are the programs that are going to go down. Here is how we are going to reform Medicare and Social Security. And the man refuses to do it.

Obama could cut the Head Start program and the only people who would notice would be the laid off union teachers and the moms who no longer had free government babysitting.

But O'Reilly is right that Obama NEVER backs up his talk with specific cuts. Never.

O’Reilly is already #1 in the ratings. He needs to tell the truth more often.

I remember during one of the debates, Obama said he would go thought the budget line-by-line. Yeah, right, like that will ever happen!
I yell the same thing at Colmes every time I see his ugly, lying face.

Just saw the replay. He knocked Colmes off his spiel by calling him a liar.It was sweet. Second only to the Barney Frank interview.

At the end he asked her too. It looked liked Jay Walking. BOR discovered that his “guests” are not doing their homework prior to the show and just use talking points.

I’m unable to speak for any state other than California, but Head Start “Teachers” here are NOT a part of any school district, and are not members of the teacher’s union.
That's because they're babysitters!

Two of my children received head-start services. The head-start teacher was certainly NOT a babysitter.

You should demand more for your kids. Some Japanese kids can play the violin at age four.
Problem is, both Coombs and O’Reilly seemed ignorant of the fact that the White House Press Kid and others in the administration have regularly claimed that Obama has already made cuts of over two trillion dollars in federal spending. To get there they will, on occasion, admit that they’ve cut 700 billion out of Medicare (although they don’t admit that those same funds were counted to help pay for Obamacare to keep it’s total new spending under a trillion in the next ten years). The rest of the claimed cuts come from a trillion or so they say will not be spent in fighting the Iraq and Afganistan wars - which they’re winding down anyway (I similarly save a half million in my own finances each year by planning to build a new house, then cancelling the plans). That Coombs didn’t throw these figures out when O’Reilly was ranting at him indicates he somehow hasn’t kept up with the ‘rat talking points or, more likely, even he is too embarrassed to try to peddle such snake oil......
Child prodigies are few and far between, regardless of their race, creed, or nationality. The head-start teacher who worked with my children, and my wife and I, on school readiness skills did an excellent job, not only with my children, but with helping my wife and I to help our children get ready for entering school. Two of our children are stay-at-home mothers, The other two are gainfully employed, one in the U.S. Army as a combat solder (tagline), and the other works in the healthcare field, working towards becoming an RN. While non of my children will ever become famous, they are doing well. Thanks for your concerns.

I think Orly gets it but he does a bad job of simplifying it for the uninformed.

Not really. Japanese kids are at least 100% better educated than American kids.
Some time back, there was an international scholastic testing conflab in Europe, they sent the best and brightest from NJ to represent the USA. Now the big joke in Belgium is how stupid Americans are.

I’ve never understood why people attempt to compare the U.S. system of education, where every child is expected to attend formal schooling from age 6 to age 18, to school systems in other countries, where only those deemed capable of succeeding attend formal education. Apples vs oranges.
We have to import engineers, doctors and scientists because there is very little domestic feedstock.

Again, you are comparing two completely different approaches to education. When the education system doesn’t have to water down the education to the lowest denomination, then they are free to allow the best and brightest to excel. In the U.S. we are made to educate ALL Children, regardless of ability; regardless of intellectual or social development; regardless of physical or mental disabilities! If the U.S. stopped providing for compulsory education for all children age 6 to 18, and only focused on those who demonstrate aptitude, you would then be able to compare our system to these other countries. Again, you are comparing apples to oranges.
