I hadn't been in Miami since 1969. The area has spread, the roads are wider, and the traffic is heavier. It reminds me a lot of Southern California minus the mountains plus the humidity. You can tell who lives in what neighborhood by the condition of the walls that separate the communities from the main arteries.

I went down I-95 from Georgia to get there, but I came back by way of Gainesville to hit the new Trader Joe's to pick up some stuff. That stretch of Florida's Turnpike north of Fort Pierce is a fine highway. I ran 80 mph all the way through.

Yes...I love that stretch when I enjoy riding my Harley to Orlando.
