I've been asking this question, and have yet to receive a reply or comment: Why did Woodward even call Sperling to give a heads-up about the story he was releasing? He wasn't calling for comment because the story was already put to bed, so why the call?

Did he call Nixon's White House to warn them? No! Did Dan Rather call Bush's to warn him about the fake-but-accurate story about the TANG? No! Did the National Enquirer call Clinton to warn him about the Lewinski story? No! Did Kiefer call Obama about the Acorn video story? No!

So why did the seasoned, experienced Woodward call Obama's White House to warn them about this story? Sure, Woodward's angry, but not for the reason he says.
