The folks at the Associated Press have a lot of egg on their faces Sunday.
Politico hours ago released a Bulletin Kill from the wire service withdrawing an article published earlier in the day with the inflammatory headline "Sen. Paul: Voters Want to Round Up Immigrants":

Rounding them all up is impractical (and not all of them are from Mexico). Enforcing existing laws and getting tougher on employers utilizing illegal labor will result in self-deportation, which is what we must do.
What's wrong with that?
Besides, they're not "immigrants" they're Mexican criminals.
I want a candidate who WILL DEPORT ILLEGAL ALIENS. You either deport illegal aliens, or you give them Amnesty....there is not a middle road or “Third Way” on the issue
Fact is that Rand Paul supports Illegal Alien Amnesty. What the AP wrote, and, what Paul said on FNC...are both pro-Amnesty comments.
There is no excuse or spin not to deport all illegal aliens. Rand Paul keeps making excuses....that is Amnesty Liberal
“Rounding them all up is impractical (and not all of them are from Mexico).”

That is not the theme of this thread (misquoting a Republican) , but it leads me to say that it would be better to start deporting the yellow journalist who desire to see a full blown Marxist USSA.
Thanks for posting. Telling.
Associated Propagandists (AP) looking to destroy a potential Tea Party presidential candidate early and often. Plant the meme in the populace.
(ping)
Better that than the pro-amnesty Rand that is reality.
Well, that goes for about, what, 99% of the parasites in that ignoble profession.
Makes one wonder how many other times the AP has removed a word to send a wrong message.

That is pretty much right.
If not for the talkers on the radio, such as Rush, we would have no media at all.
Even FOX is drifting more and more to the left.
I am watching it less and less from here in the Philippines.
“Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country.. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.”
Larry the Cable Guy
More from Larry:
“Everyone concentrates on the problems we’re having in Our Country lately: Illegal immigration, hurricane recovery, alligators attacking people in Florida . .. .. .
Not me — I concentrate on solutions for the problems
it’s a win-win situation.
* Dig a moat the length of the Mexican border.
* Send the dirt to New Orleans to raise the level of the levees.
* Put the Florida alligators in the moat along the Mexican border.
Any other problems you would like for me to solve today? “
THE CONSTITUTION
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq ....why don’t we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it has worked for over 200 years, and we’re not using it anymore.
THE 10 COMMANDMENTS
The real reason that we can’t have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse is this — you cannot post ‘Thou Shalt Not Steal’ ‘Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery’ and ‘Thou Shall Not Lie’ in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians,
It creates a hostile work environment!
All under the disguise of "The following is a rush transcript... This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated."
Send out the lies and then "update" them later when no one's looking.
Nope, we just want to make ILLEGAL ALIENS so uncomfortable that they’ll leave on their own.
I want the border closed up so tight that even a cockroach cannot cross without a pass.
Pardon me, but isn't that what the law enforcement officials are supposed to do with lawbreakers?
Impractical to be sure - doesn’t mean that many of us wouldn’t be all for rounding them up and helping them find their way back home. Let them suffer the same obedience to our laws as we must.
Perfect.
You won’t hear a peep of a complaint out of me.

Perhaps the AP should be sued for $2 billion. Something has to be done to put a stop to character assassination attempts by the media using clearly false information. IMO, we have too many examples of the liberal media getting caught, but getting off with zero punishment or admonishment.
The entire MSM knows the single most important rule of propaganda........”Once seen, it cannot be unseen” and “once heard it cannot be unheard.”
Try it out....it really works. Don’t believe so? Well, just tell your little children really bad stories of how the bogy man is going to eat them in their sleep tonight and just before putting them in bed for the night and turning off the light, tell them it was just a joke.
See how that works.
It’s the single most important principle of propaganda...period!

That, IMHO, is exactly the right tack which should and must be taken. The AP is the nexus of the entire problem of bias in the media. When the AP came into being in the middle of the Nineteenth Century, print journalism was the media. Except that print journalism was notorious for not agreeing about much of anything - entirely the opposite of the situation we have faced all our lives. IMHO it is the AP which is responsible for that change. After all, what is the AP newswire if not a 24/7 virtual meeting of all the major journalism outlets??? And what did Adam Smith say about that sort of thing?"People of the same trade seldom meet together even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public or some contrivance to raise prices."The conspiracy against the public which is the AP has produced a homogeneous journalism which may, incidentally, contain controversy on editorial pages but which promotes as objective news which promotes journalism as such and, for that reason, promotes politicians which cooperate in promoting journalism. Journalism promotes politicians by giving them positive labels such as liberal, "progressive, or moderate. The liberal politician and the objective journalist cooperate in slandering the people by casting aspersions on anyone whom the people need to trust, no matter how honorable and diligent they may be.The AP was found in violation of the Sherman Antitrust Act back in 1945, but nothing much came of it because the AP was too big to fail. Its mission, the conservation of scarce and expensive bandwidth in the transmission of news, was seen as too important. At this late date bandwidth is dirt cheap, so the mission of the AP is obsolete. It should be sued into oblivion.
The AP is the source of the objective journalism con. It is honorable to try to be objective, and it is even honorable to claim to be trying to be objective - but to claim actually to be objective, or to belong to an organization which you know will claim it for you, is blatant sophistry meriting only contempt.
