You mean Schultz? He was part of the conspiracy. Paterno should have reported his information to real police. I know I would have.

You guys can keep your JoePa fan club. Not me, thanks.

Uncle Chip, I'd like you to rethink this.

First of all, Joe Paterno testified under oath before the grand jury that the only person he talked with about this was the athletic director, Tim Curley. Paterno testified under oath that he didn't know if Curley told anyone else. Unless Paterno was mistaken, or forgetful, or worst of all, perjured himself, Paterno never spoke with Gary Schultz.

If Paterno spoke with Gary Schultz, then that portion of Paterno's grand jury testimony is unreliable - and the way legal evidence works is that the rest of his grand jury testimony is subject to attack as equally unreliable or untrue.

Me? I think Paterno spoke with Schultz, which means that all of Paterno's testimony has to be taken with a big grain of salt. He can't even remember, or refused to testify truthfully, about talking with Schultz.

Second, Thomas Harmon was the Head of the PSU Campus police, not Gary Schultz. Gary Schultz was the Senior Vice President of Business and Finance. Thomas Harmon reported to Gary Schultz, as did the heads of Internal Audit, Human Resources, Building and Grounds, and seven other departments.

On FR, we don't refer to Obama as the 'head of the State Department', even though it reports to him on a corporate chart. We don't refer to Obama as 'head of Homeland Security," although it reports to him on a security chart, or perhaps the head of the National Security Agency does.

Calling Schultz the 'head of PSU police' is first-class apologetics. Harmon was the head of the PSU Police. He was never told about the 2001 incident.

For all we know, Schultz may have been approached because this was a Human Relations matter (HR reported to Schultz) or < sarc> Building and Grounds, because this involved a shower </sarc>.
