So when are these gay goofballs getting the option of moving into the married housing.

If it hasn't changed since my days, the married housing was much preferable to living in the barracks. I wonder how many straight buddies will now decide they are "gay" just to get out of the barracks and get a party pad.

Why pretend to be gay? Heteros (aka “normal people) can shack up now and call themselves “domestic partners”. People used to punished for such things when I was in the service. Now, I think it will be impossible to punish straight people for doing what is now permitted for gays. This whole movement for gay marriage and same sex unions was always about the money. It makes me wanna puke.

Most bases these days can’t keep uniformed members in housing. A lot has changed. Bases now rent to straight (not military affiliated civilians), DOD civilians, contractors, etc. They opened up a lot of housing the last few years after they went to contracted housing. Military members now have to actually pay to live in base housing. Once occupancy levels drop below a certain amount they open up housing to all.

Gone are the days of free utilities, you now have to pay for your gas and electricity in base housing.

Not all bases are affected by this only the ones who became “privatized”.
