It’s a waste of funding anyway. Obviously, California’s leaders didn’t learn much from math classes.

Most of the stuff passed off as “Arabic” inventions, especially in mathematics, were merely transported by the Arabs to the rest of the world, sourced originally from the Hindus.

Well Algebra is an arabic derived word... For what they took from the Dravidian cultures which they subsequently destroyed.

Aryan, actually, and one of the mathematician's names - Aryabhatta. See link in my previous comment.

Thanks for the link. I was not aware of all their contributions. I’m not surprised though.

Yes, you are correct - I just read about this in Emmet Scott's Mohammed & Charlemagne Revisited, where the author makes a very strong case for the idea that the so-called Dark Ages - from mid 7th century to the end of the 10th - were largely the product of the rise of Islam. They engaged in slaughter, ruin, enslavement and impoverishment everywhere they went. For a time, they appeared to be fabulously wealthy, but that was merely a byproduct of the looting of every civilized place they went.

Dravidian culture is still alive and well

Heavily Sanskritised / Aryanised, however.

This is seriously a left-wing board book for kids from zero to three years old.

I think I would change the curriculum also to make it things like practical math. They have to figure out tips and taxes, balance a checkbook, work on tax returns, double or triple recipes for cooking, etc.

Life 101 and 102 courses. I always wondered why those were never taught at the HS level. Include subjects like investing, saving money, what is a loan, etc. It doesn't have to be deep, just enough so kids understand what adults do, why we do it, and where to go find more information.

The "elites" (progressives) have sold the entire society on the idea that "everybody should go to college". I remember when Eleanor Clift(?) said that decades ago and I thought it was the dumbest idea I ever heard. This is why we now have people with degrees in subjects that used to be hobbies or side passions. The result of the "everybody gets a trophy" mindset. Now too many go to college and have to take remedial classes in subjects they should have learned back in HS or GS.

It will take a long time to break people of this mindset, I'm afraid.

“Paladin2 was being facetious”

Obviously, but it gave me a great opening to again bash the schools, and try (hopelessly) to wake up American parents.

The average IQ in a lot of CA public schools is 85.

Forcing students with IQs of 85 - or below - to take Algebra is cruel.

It makes boys angry and girls depressed. The boys get violent, the girls get pregnant.

You cannot send a third-world population to a first-world school.

The whole idea of it is ridiculous
