A hugh winter storm centered on liberal New England? Freeze A Yankee - The Fokel Minority (1978).

Most of us in Texas had to run our air conditioners for a while today.

When did they start naming any old storm that came along!

This is not being done by the NWS/NOAA, but by Weather Channel. WC was purchased by NBC in 2008. The MSM liberals at NBC have increasing used WC to preach the theology of "climate change". This named winter storms deal is used to create hype. And it works. I've seen internet posts by young minds full of mush indicating that "they had to start naming these because global warming has made them so much more powerful".

Didn’t run any AC but the windows are open now.

Oh, so you were over in the cool part of the area. :-) It hit 82 on my thermometer in Tarrant County during the 4 o'clock hour this afternoon. I was almost tempted to go for a swim!

At the edge of the system here in Toronto; 5cm so far with another 20cm by tomorrow evening. The worst is expected to hit during the morning rush (better than the evening rush, prefer stuck at home over stuck at work.

Heck we got more snow two years ago (Jan 2011, two storms back to back dumped 42 inches at my house) than the blizzard of 78 (about 17 inches at Bradley).

But the drifting with this one will be like 78. I’m hunkered down and prepared, but hoping for the best.

With such a short duration I don't see how they get two feet.

If it snows for 18 hours, and averages 1- 1/2" an hour, it can easily rack up that much. They're predicting times when the snow can come down 3-4" an hour, for an extended period.

The Credit Union at which I work is open for bidness, but they've already said that they'll cut us loose early if the snow starts getting heavy. The problem is that if it starts coming down really heavily, and folks are on the roads, the plows can't get through fast enough to clear what's there, before even MORE comes down. Believe me, it can get pretty hairy driving through several inches of slush.

Most schools have already posted closing notices, because it would be really dangerous to have big buses sliding around in the slush, and they don't want to get the kids to school, then get them stuck on buses if the roads get really squirrely later in the afternoon.

So my snowblower hit our buried newspaper last snowstorm, and started making an ominous clunking noise. I’m hoping it survives this storm. Otherwise... we’re going to have a nice day-long family snow shoveling day.

I have the cars at the bottom of the hill, just in case.

Good times!

There are TWO storms coming together ~ the n’or easter itself is churning up down off the Carolanna coast ~ and it will soon be chugging North to merge with/take advantage of the cold air and the disturbance already sucking in a bit of Atlantic air.

Hubby was looking at the two storms, and said it looked a little like Superstorm Sandy. This will be Superblizzard Nemo!

SE Conn, close to central. I think SW is predicted to be lower snowfall than us. We always get more snow than they predict because we are higher in elevation than most places around us.

I have friend in Portsmouth NH. She’s going to be buried.

I will say 16 at Logan putting it out of the top 10 snowstorms there.

I am writing your prediction on the wall. Right next to doug from upland's 3 predictions as to the extent of Romney's win.

If I lived in Boston I would hope you are right and the weatherpersons are wrong.
