What bothers me the most is the assumption that many FReepers make that any information must be released as soon as possible (with the corollary that, if it is not, it is evidence of a conspiracy).

It's a criminal investigation, for cripe's sake.

You’re correct. A criminal investigation, one that is thorough, takes time to conduct.

Which is why it is so great that after any trial, or long after the incident, that evidence is available to the public.

For example: JFK's Death, Ron Brown's Death, Vince Foster's Death, Why Bin Laden was dumped off the ship while the Media claimed it was 'normal' Islamic tradition to do so, Waco, the TWA Flight 800 crash, The Oklahoma City Federal Building Explosion, etc, etc, etc.

I agree. If that is still the case, holding back info is fine with me.

My problem was that the statement was so vague that it was meaningless. Either tell me, "there are still leads," or "we really can't talk about an unclosed investigation one way or the other." And, if it's a high-profile case, reassure the public by having someone of rank concerned with the investigation say so.

Otherwise, a comment like that is just more bureaucratic babble to be drowned out rather than listened to. It's background government "Mu-zak."

"It's a criminal investigation, for cripe's sake. "

With no Manifesto nor Opus, there seems to be not much left to investigate.

The perp has been ID'd and punished, the weapons detained and all the vics ID'd.

"for cripe's sake."

Okay, I'm dense and sheltered. What does "cripe" mean?

TIA!

‘It's a criminal investigation, for cripe’s sake.’

Yes, I can see your point.

If there are other suspects that are involved that the police do not want to tip off by releasing news of the investigation, that would make sense.

If there are other suspects that were involved, would they not be considered dangerous and a potential hazard to the public at large?

Should not APBs be posted attempting to find the whereabouts of the other perpetrators?

Here now comes the but(t)...

But, if Adam did act on his own with no confederates, or other conspirators, then why the delay in issuing a report?

The one undeniable transformative change that Obama has brought this country with the completion of his first term is the politicization of the Just-Us department. What should be of concern to every American is this rush to pass legislation on the emotion of the Sandy Hook killings.

Once again, the founders of this nation understood that the nation should not swing back and forth on the emotion of the moment but rather that whatever legislation is produced is the result of a deliberate and temperate process.

Is there no report in an effort to bolster this rush to legislation? That should be the concern of every American.
