There was a controversial TV show back in the 80s, aired on one of the broadcast channels iirc (or maybe even PBS) that covered a foreign takeover of the US and the indoctrination of American children to undermine their loyalty to the US.
I can’t remember the name for the life of me, but I do remember that the penultimate scene involved the “teacher” having the students cut apart the US flag, ostensibly so they could each have a piece of it for themselves.
Also, I think it ran on PBS ... was not “Amerika”.
That was probably an adaptation of James Clavell’s “The Children’s Story.” It’s about 4000k words, and available on the web. It’s a chilling story for sure
