[Missouri] Senator Blunt: “No” On Hagel
U.S. Senator Blunt of Missouri ^ | Feb 01 2013 | Press release

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), a member of the Committee on Armed Services, released the following statement today regarding former U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel’s (Neb.) nomination to serve as President Barack Obama’s Secretary of Defense:

“Senator Hagel’s answers before the committee were simply too inconsistent, particularly as they related to Iran and Israel. The idea that we can contain a nuclear Iran and his view that we should not have unilateral sanctions are just wrong and are too dangerous for us to try.

“I admire Senator Hagel’s service to our country, but for this job at this time, his views do not reflect the kind of leadership that we need from our Secretary of Defense. That’s why I will vote against him in committee and on the floor if there is a vote of the full Senate.”

Personally, I was surprised at this announcement. Blunt, after all, voted for the traitor John Kerry. So good for him.

State is already too far gone to be saved. With Defense, we still have a fighting chance. I have never seen a dud like Hagel. He is awful.

I think palpable fear is circulating on the Hill that “if he’s this bad in a hearing he’s liable to really eff things up over their beyond belief. And I don’t want my vote anyplace near it.”

A few Republicans had previously announced there support for Hagel..I forget which..but I suspect they will change their minds...Dems are hoping to have a few GOP votes for confirmation, but if all 45 come out in opposition, I suspect that a few of the 21 Dems up in 2014 won't want to walk the plank for ole Chuckie.

Thus, Hagel is toast..
