Texas isn’t IN a region, it IS a region.

Sure it would. It wouldn’t be like THAT again. You’re not still holding a grudge are you?

"I would rather not see the south rise again, that would not be a good thing for me."

I would disagree. If your sentiment has anything to do with your tagline, I believe you would find much more condescending anti-black attitude among northeastern liberals than among conservative Southerners (of which I am one).

True enough. In terms of a “sense of self” that permeates everything, there’s no place else like Texas - at least not on this continent.

The South still attracts the most domestic migrants of any U.S. region.

I think it also attracts the most international migrants as well. Between them and all the migrants from the blue states I expect that more and more Southern states will become blue themselves in the coming decades.

I’m always sure to tell our left coast family and friends how hot and humid and LONG Texas summers are.

I moved to TX from IL and absolutely love the real freedom out here.

That said, I’ll still retire in my native MI, provided it is still part of the US.

The Southwest starts in Fort Worth.

Not true, at all. All that is long in the past. If what you get from smiley-faced fascists is your idea of honesty and true equality, you haven't been paying attention.

I agree, and (if I understand your reference and who, with a nom de Internet of Charles Martel, wouldn’t know history) would make an analogy to historic Spain, current-day Russia and Serbia; and to South Africa before they surrendered to the communist ANC.

Hopefully, all these “immigrants” from New York, Illinois, New Jersey and California don’t vote for liberals/progressives (and their policies) and turn their new home into the socialist hell-holes they just left.

I know six voters moving to NC from the NY area. Four are conservative and two are liberal. That's a net of +2 against Obama. Perhaps they can help swing NC back to what it once was.

Don't be area-ist. I came from NY, but I brought to GA a net increase in conservative thinking.

LOL, good one.

Laz the anti area-ist.

Fighting area-ism.

Area-ism is the worst ‘ism’ of all.

An open letter to Obama/Clinton voting liberals, please stay in your original state either in IL or the Northeast US. We don’t need you votes and you can stay in the cesspool you created with your liberalism.

When all areas become equally bad, the area-ists will be vanquished. :/

ur jus jellus of them fine huntin' dawgs. Look at the intelligence in those light brown eyes, and think about all that sniffin' powa in those big 'ol snouts.

No yankee could breed up such a fine working animal, as any of that trio. Besides, if one of bites something or somebuddy in the dark, the tooth pattern will tell the tale of which one of 'em dun it.

Area-ism is the worst ‘ism’ of all.

No "Hook 'em Horns", "Go Cowboys" or "How 'bout them Niner's?"

In Ft. Worth there was a High school named Dunbar. It was almost 100% black. They had one cheer that went something like "Dunbar, Dunbar, we are Black, Black Power" I'm not kidding..

Late Sixties-mid 70's. Could have gone on longer, I don't know.

Maybe one sort-of had to have been there to better understand.

Area tribalism is ginned up to support sports teams, worldwide. I suppose you have something against soccer hooligans, and Middle Easterner fans killing each other over sports rivalries?

Myself, I used to stay out of Dallas during Texas-OU weekend.

Though I did try to work out an answer to the question; Who you rooting for?

I likely when have still gotten punched out. It's probably not quite as rowdy as it once was, but I'm still not taking any chances.
