Hundreds of British troops will be deployed to Mali and West Africa, Number 10 has now confirmed.
According to reports, approximately 350 personnel will be deployed.
200 British soldiers are expected to train soldiers in African countries outside of Mali, whilst 40 advisers are to be sent into the country to train troops.
The UK would be "contributing to both Malian training and training forces that are involved in providing a regionally-led approach", a Number 10 spokesman was quoted as saying by the BBC.
70 Royal Air Force personnel are also to be used for the operation of Sentinel surveillance aircraft, with 20 airmen being used for a C-17 aircraft which will continue to be used for three months.
Jihadists are playing ‘Whack a Mole’ all over the Moslem crescent.
This is not a place we need to be, period.
At some point , the west will come to the opinion that they have to fight by the same rules of engagement as the jihadists, that innocents can be killed. Kindal like in the old days.
When the gloves come off, it will be nuke -em. Hopefully that occurs before Iran and Pakistan get all charged up and into position to dole it to the west... and then everyone else.
If the Brits want to combat the problem with the muzzies they need to deploy their troops all over England.
As long as there is not one US soldier involved I’m all for Europe fighting the Muslims.
For the most part, yeah, I agree.
I was all for offering logistics and ISTAR (C-17 and Sentinel), even SF ‘advisor’s, but as soon as we are talking about a couple of companies worth of boots pretty soon you’re going to be referring to a regiment etc etc...
Mission creep.
African Union, honestly, should have been well on top of this months ago. Whatever reason you think they had for not moving faster (and you;re likely to be right) the fact remains that they have basically been shamed into action after France (!!!!) did what had to be done.
God speed.
Steady in the ranks lads- and yes. Godspeed.
Send in Madonna with her fake British accent. Didn’t she screw things up in Mali by adopting a child from there illegally and filtering money into the country that went who-knows-where because the school it was for was never built?
