Considering the condition of the country I’m not sure streamlining the process is a good idea but this guy makes perfect sense about the path to citizenship.

The whole thing is theater. Another sell out. Republicans won’t get any more “credit” from the Hispanic community than they did when Reagan signed the ‘86 amnesty. This is a win only for the Dems. The GOP had their shot in W’s first term and a half and squandered it as they did in so many ways.

Why is it only poor/middle class white people have to obey the law?

Hw are we to ensure the integrity of OUR elections? Not that we do a great job of that now...but IF this gets through..it better make CRYSTAL CLEAR that CITIZENS, born or naturalized are the only voters in our elections. Voter ID must reflect citizen status.. I think I’m going to be ill.

Perfect statement. If the GOP had even an ounce of brain matter available, they would put Sen. Cruz before every camera they can find and have him repeat this same statement over and over.

Every new illegal on a ‘path to citizenship’ will be counterbalanced by another unemployed American teenager on a ‘path to drug dealership’, and/or a ‘path to gang membership’.

I do not think that we need to “fix our broken immigration system”. Our current system is working as it is now. They say that it is Slow and keeps a lot of people out of the USA. Well that is the point, However we have 11-30 Million people that have bypassed the current system due to a total lack of border control.

As Sen. Ted Cruz states;”To allow those who came here illegally to be placed on such a path is both inconsistent with rule of law and profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who waited years, if not decades, to come to America legally”

So now we will make a “law” allowing the Illegals to become Legal? Only in the USSR of the USA.

It takes Cruz, brand new there and hispanic himself, to be the only one to say what is perfect common sense and morality.

I can’t think of a good reason based on morality or what’s best for the nation, to treat illegal aliens as though they are the most wonderful people on earth for sneaking in here and taking advantage of America when they have their own countries, and when this is NOT a good start to being a good citizen.

Cruz is head and shoulders above Rubio. Cruz is a consistent conservative because he approaches it as a philosophy he holds deeply—not a buffet line of choices.

Rubio . . . .

Cruz is a real immigrant (like me) and is absolutely offended at giving lawbreakers something that people who follow our US immigration laws do not get....a Free Ride to citizenship

Only if Cruz was US born. Hey we should get him to become Canadian premier

Well obviously the extended unemployment is going to be stopped as a part of this bill since we must have very low unemployment to bring in 11 milliuon illegals to work.

"To allow those who came here illegally to be placed on such a path is both inconsistent with rule of law and profoundly unfair to the millions of legal immigrants who waited years, if not decades, to come to America legally." That would have made sense once upon a time. But we've traveled through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. See the signpost up ahead? We're now living in Bizarro World. This guy would have considered himself lucky to slop burned coffee at Starbucks ten years ago.

Glad I’m from Texas. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t worship the ground Ted Cruz walks on, but he sure brings up some good points.

I appreciate the good work that senators in both parties have put into trying to fix our broken immigration system.

The only thing BROKEN is the fact the federal government has continually ignored the Constitution!

It was NEVER meant for the federal government to intimately direct every aspect of citizenship. They were ONLY supposed to make a uniform rule for naturalization for the States to follow!

'Illegals' are what the Founders called denizens , and they are under the singular jurisdiction of the State! Until denizens apply for citizenship, they are NOT *immigrants*, they are alien residents!

The common law has affixed such distinct and appropriate ideas to the terms denization, and naturalization, that they can not be confounded together, or mistaken for each other in any legal transaction whatever.
[snip]
The power of naturalization, and not that of denization, being delegated to congress, and the power of denization not being prohibited to the states by the constitution, that power ought not to be considered as given to congress, but, on the contrary, as being reserved to the states.
St. George Tucker

-------

THIS is why the States are flooded with people they have no control over....THIS is why we're forced to live with the criminal element importing itself from other countries....and THIS is why the federal authority will never make the situation any better.....because the feral federal government will NEVER admit that their 'amnesty' and regulations concerning 'illegals' are unconstituional exercises of power!
