We have Cabela’s in Montana but locals will tell you that they (Cabela’s) are in the practice of buying up private ranches, including those that have been open to public hunting, and setting them up as high-dollar guided hunt preserves.
I’ve heard it from a couple merchants and guides and one guy lived up where, he claimed, Cabela’s had closed off a big private ranch along the Milk River.
Can’t say if it’s for sure but it bugged me.
Have to say I admire their stance in this situation tho.
They can't buy what is not for sale. Look at the sellers, not the buyers.
