Edwin Meese just came out and said Obama could be impeached if he tries to enact gun control by EO. He does not have the legal authority to do it. That being said I believe he will try it.

I move that we limit EOs to no more than seven per term, if its good
for ammunition, it should be good for the far more dangerous EOsdisagree, much less; maybe four...
per immediate review of the Chief Justice of USSC.

The blowback will be intense. Maybe it will be a good thing if he tries to go too far. Maybe so.... it might be healthy to gauge the level of resolve.

Tell ya what barry. We'll get right on this as soon as we rescue the American economy from immanent collapse from Federal out of control spending.

In the Soviet Union they labeled just about any opponent to the regime mentally ill and sent them off for “treatment.”

he knows he has no such authority
so, what’s he really trying to do?

Yep- I notice the rhetoric from the Chris Matthews fans is that all Republicans are crazy- mentally ill. And the Republicans who hold office help them shape this opinion.

"My guess is that these proposed LAWS will generate 10,000+ pages of poorly thought out regulations. Typical lib nonsenseExactly. This is going to be a dog and pony show for the cameras and the 50.1% who voted for them to show he cares. In reality, nothing will pass Congress and any attempt to direct Federal agencies to start seizing guns would be a disaster.
To: Olog-hai
Doesn’t look like the Executive orders will mean much.

The real question of the day is whether it is a hard plan or if thy’re merely testing the waters to see what they think they can actually get away with. It would be ironic for them to blow their plan by trying to ram-rod too big a bite down our throats.

"
The biggest congressional fight on gun control in early 20 years..."
There's no "biggest" "fight" necessary. Each and every member of Congress can very easily take naps during testimony and vote against each and every anti-Second-Amendment bill. Journalists should learn to type and spell, though.
From The Collaborative International Dictionary of English v.0.48 :
Hysteria \Hys*te"ri*a\, n. [NL.: cf. F. hyst['e]rie. See
Hysteric.] (Med.)
A nervous affection, occurring almost exclusively in women,
in which the emotional and reflex excitability is
exaggerated, and the will power correspondingly diminished,
so that the patient loses control over the emotions, becomes
the victim of imaginary sensations, and often falls into
paroxism or fits.
[1913 Webster]
Note: The chief symptoms are convulsive, tossing movements of
the limbs and head, uncontrollable crying and laughing,
and a choking sensation as if a ball were lodged in the
throat. The affection presents the most varied
symptoms, often simulating those of the gravest
diseases, but generally curable by mental treatment
alone. Hysteric

To: Olog-hai; All
Although I have not read the amendment myself, a related FR thread had reported that somebody in DC (Harry Reid?) had slipped a pro-gun rights amendment into the unread Obamacare bill, the amendment preventing the feds from making a gun and ammo registry.
Thank Goodness for Obamacare: Hidden Amendment Prevents Gun and Ammo Registry
So in stark contrast to the Court's clarification in Youngstown Sheet & Tube Co. v. Sawyer that constitutionally undefined executive orders must be based on existing laws, it would appear that an Obama executive order to regulate guns would likely be in blatant violotion of Obamacare as well as the 2nd Amendment.

And the Congress will not shy away from impeaching him nor the military from overthrowing him.Say what!?? You HAVE been living IN the United States for the past 4 years, haven't you??
The Congress, so far, has been too afraid of The Won to EVER tell him No!! And, the military?? They're worn out from being too thinly stretched and repeatedly sent to one war zone after another.
You might want to remove your rose-colored glasses and take a long, hard look at the America of today. The rule of law is dead and the Constitution has been shredded. Otherwise, zero would be impeached on so many violations of the Constitution, his oath of office and straight out violations of the law that he would be UNDER the jail!!

BTW even Harry Reid is strongly back peddling on a assault weapons Reid won't pass it in Congress but now he doesn't need to since Obama is going the EO route.
