I’m trying to help a friend fine something appropriate for concealed carry. She’s 68 with arthritis. We found a Ruger 32 that she could work the slide on, but I’m worried she’d have trouble loading the magazine, even with a re-loader. I think a revolver would be better, due to her hand-strength issues & was looking at a S&W 638 Airweight on-line. But I think it’d be best to have her see it/try it in person. Anyone with an idea of what might be suitable?
S& W Airweight hammerless is a good choice. Have her pull the trigger on an empty gun to make sure she can handle the pull.
I would look at a Ruger SP101. I can’t operate a slide either. It is a hammerless five shot revolver so it won’t snag on clothing or on items in your purse. It has a five pound trigger pull. Capacity is five rounds of either 357 or you can also load .38 for less kick.
“Shes 68 with arthritis.”
Have her try 20 Mule Team Borax for the arthritis...buy it in the laundry section of the grocery store. Have her put a tablespoon or so in a small dish and keep it in her bathroom where it is easily accessible. She should like the tip of her index finger, stick it in the Borax, lick the Borax off...and do that 3 or 4 times a day.
Borax and expecially Boric acid are label as poisons. They are not. Borax is less poisonous than table salt. Borax also is great in the laundry, so she might find it beneficial there too.
