Totally agree. A .357mag is hard to beat. Practice with cheap .38 wad cutters and load up at home with .375 Glasser safety slugs or hollow point mags. Your method is exactly the same as mine except that you forgot the snap caps for practicing drawing and trigger control.

"you forgot the snap caps for practicing drawing and trigger control." I like it! Better than dry firing. The caps will help to overcome any flinching (I'm sure I flinch with my Smith .44 mag).
