I'm fine with believing that if someone will explain why it is at the same time unacceptable to show someone smoking in a movie since it is encourages children to smoke.

Exactly. Same for advertising. If it didn't work or have an effect, no one would use the technique of showing people happily using the advertised product. It works because it's how we are wired.

"Monkey see, monkey do" is one expression Mom would use to give us a hard time when "just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean you have to."

Look it up, Arnie. We model what we see, whether good or bad.

This also includes the aggressive modeling in the media of the sexual revolution as desirable, something you seldom see complained about anymore, since the revolutionaries have won so completely few even remember other ideals once existed.
