Side question... Is it bad to keep my .223 rounds loose in the ammo can as opposed to boxed in the original packaging? I don’t want to spend a lot of time unboxing them later.

As long as they’re dry & cool, they’ll store for many, many, many years wo/ corroding. If you can get some packs of Silica Gel (don’t eat!) to drop inside the ammo cans, all the better.
