"among the departments considering taking action is the NYPD. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said if Congress were to reinstate the ban, police are wondering whether it will be their responsibility to confiscate them."

Other than a few that might be in the hands of organized crime bosses and drug dealers, I can't imagine that there are very many "assault rifles" within the boundaries of New York City.

It's virtually impossible just to get a pistol permit there, unless you're a celebrity with national name recognition.

This would be fun to watch from the other side of the Hudson!

(I have visited that cesspool exactly once since 9/11, and I'm hoping not to go back any time soon.)

It looks like New York is the Liberal’s testing ground. They are making headway in disarming the public and have even made huge inroads into policing what it’s citizens may eat and drink. So far, there hasn’t been all that much push-back, which must be very encouraging to the wannabe American Gestapo.

I’m afraid their confidence might be a little misplaced and off the mark. There would no doubt be some nasty surprises in store for them if they decide to push their agenda in some other parts of the country.

You’re not missing anything in NYC.
