This is a fascinating thread. A fantastic one, too. Why would anyone think there would be confrontation on their doorstep? Why would anyone expect police or military to risk messy encounters, absent a natural disaster or some catastrophe with subsequent chaos?
They don't need so much personnel. They can just drain your bank account, or freeze your assets, detain you at your job, take you into custody for a deeper discussion, take your house keys, and by the end of the day they'll have your guns, your hard drive, and your dog, dead or alive depending on his attitude.
You think it'll be tough to find personnel to loot your home? Because that's what they will do. Of course your insurance company has records of your jewelry and coin collection, right?
Gun confiscation won't be bloody, or even loud. It'll be lucrative and not at all limited to guns.
Gun confiscation won't be when they send a SWAT team, it'll be when they send an IRS agent, a Homeland Security agent, a social worker and maybe a psychiatrist. All of whom stand to profit from the adventure.
But how will they implement the non door to door approach to 8 million people, will they send out letters threatening freezing of assets etc?
Do they have the budget to do it?

I bet they’ll do it with the new DHS emergency response teams and their nifty new urban ‘rescue’ vehicles. Power and water will be shut off prior to a cordon and search. Cleared properties will be eligible to have their utility services restored. Uncleared will simply have their utilities cut-off indefinitely. Use of force not required -unless it is.
Confiscations will be aimed at “hoarders” (preppers) and “para-militarists” (gun owners).
