Last night, I did something I hadn't done about the current event in Connecticut. I am stuck on some things that make no sense to me, such as the distance from the house to the school, the location of the school from its driveway and surrounding territory, the reason to commit these heinous acts on that particular day, and the reason to raid the gun shop (and confiscate the record book, no doubt).

So, I started with my usual tactic of looking up the date. I found that Britain recognized Iraq on that day, and the Decembrists rose up in Russia, which was apparently anti-tsarist. Uthman became the 3rd caliph, and you'll recall that someone recited the Koran at 0bama's memorial event. Most critical for us, though, is that George Washington died on December 14th; you'll recall, the doctor's leeched him too death in their ignorance.

I quit looking for answers when I came on that piece of information. Someone, be it Satan himself, likes to twist the knife.

I tend to agree with you that it won't come to actual confiscation, but in the event that it did, cooperation of any sort is the wrong response.

If the jackbooted thugs ever come to the door to disarm you, you kill them, or die trying. To do anything less is to surrender the last shred of freedom, and most likely, your very life.

I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes. They may confiscate the first few, but unless they kill the owners, word will quickly get out and leo’s will be sitting ducks from that point on.

You haven't hung out on a military base or in a barracks lately, have you? "By far" is pure hyperbole. Like the US, it's about 50-50 when you get to the grunts. When Obama's war begins, military bases will be very interesting places to watch... from a very long distance.

Yeah, I wonder that myself. I think a lot of the military, maybe over 50% would side with us. It would not surprise me if there are groups of Generals and Colonials talking amongst themselves in dark rooms as they play some ELO to make background noise. Knowhutimean Vern? Still, there might be a chunk of the military that would side with the Obumbles. There are "Black Swans" here to me sure meaning there are plenty of unknown factors here that can come into play that would make the work easier or harder for us.

The idea is that all there will be to find is what I want them to find. With 110 million gun owners to contact they won't be coming back to houses they have already 'cleared' unless you can't act or give them some overt reason to be suspicious.

I don't think there will be any door to door searches either. Searching some 80 million homes is a logistical impossibility in any case.

Okay, I read through the posts on this thread and didn't see anyone comment on this line at the very end of the article:

I could have swore that I heard it was the other way around. The misinformation being disseminated by the freakin' press about this (and about a lot of other things during the election) borders on outright criminality.

That's a good idea. Personally none of my 20+ guns have any paper on them at all so it is unlikely they would be contacting me in the first place. If they pulled an 0-dark thirty armed home invasion (aka a No-Knock Warrant) then it will be bloodier than a Tarantino movie.

But that is not how gun turn-ins and door-to-door confiscations would be conducted. For one thing the NKW method would require more personnel and vastly larger sums of money. They won't have enough of either to do simple door-to-door contacts. We're talking tens, if not hundreds, of billions of dollars and with the economy about to do a swan dive into a kettle of boiling Greece that's not going to happen.

But the D-to-D method means that there will be lots of advance warning except for those unfortunate ones who are contacted in the first couple of weeks. There is no one way to handle a situation that you can set in stone ahead of time. Or shouldn't be. I deal with things by doing what is appropriate in the moment. As you said, fighting on your terms and not theirs is the preferable thing to do. That can take many forms depending upon circumstances.
