My previous mailman/postmaster/whoever was involved was awful. About half the time they just read house number and called it a day. Street or city didn’t matter.

I would frequently get mail for houses 5-15 miles away. Forget abut stopping mail for vacations. Never happened or the mail just disappeared. If someone went on vacation, it was easier to ask and pay a neighbor to empty the mail box each day and hold it until you got back.

I have a good postman and the one before that was good, also. I reward them each Christmas and I hope others around me don’t take their good service for granted. And I get nervous when I see a substitute - wondering if he left or it is just for his vacation or sick days.
