CBS's Bob Schieffer made a comment Sunday about the elementary school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, that's likely to raise eyebrows on both sides of the aisle.
During a Face the Nation panel discussion about the incident, Schieffer said, "If [shooter Adam Lanza] had had an Arab name, people would be going nuts about what we ought to do right now"
I guess Schieffer forgot how when U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan murdered thirteen people while injuring 29 at Fort Hood in November 2009, much of the media initially buried his Islamic affiliation. This included the CBS Evening News that day.
Schieffer himself had some problems with Hasan's Muslim roots as on the first Face the Nation following the shootings, he said, “It’s looking more and more like he was just, sort of, a religious nut. And you know Islam doesn’t have a majority – or the Christian religion has its full, you know, full helping of nuts too.”
At the end of that program, he actually blamed the Army for the shooting saying, "That doctor [Hasan] should not have been at Fort Hood.
If people had any idea how many Bat-sh*t crazy people there are walking around they would go nuts.
There are three constants with this kind of violence:
Schools
Guns
Crazy People
We cannot close schools.
We won’t give up our guns.
I guess we have to work on getting guns out of the hands of crazy people in schools.
People pretty much are going crazy about what to do now.
If the shooter had a Muslim name this might be considered a terrorist attack and it wouldn't be surprising if people reacted as they do to terrorist attacks.
Possibly not, given what happened with the Fort Hood shootings, but I don't get what he was getting at here.
It seems like a very knee-jerk comment without any thought behind it.
Since it was a whitey school and whites were murdered, Bob’s liberal racist pals are cheering the deaths.
He should be proud. He and his Network liberal hate pals also got a bomb threat call into a whitey church near to the school. Bob’s dehumanization and murder of America in order to rid Dear Reader of that pesky constitution is “progressing”!
He could clean out his own closet of the Jamie Foxx’s in there before he looks anywhere else for a problem. Immoral, fascist pig.
Think islamists are mourning?
Virtually every act of violent crime in this country facilitates islamism.
