I believe you will have no choice after a while. This will drive a number of folks over to the used car market for the next twenty to thirty years. I also suspect that a new tech training school will open which trains folks on how to remove or screw up the black box.

What would eventually happen, if we all just played along....is that your insurance company would get ahold of the data and begin to connect the dots. Aggressive drivers would be readily identified and forced into paying $8k a year in car insurance (which they richly deserve to pay), and the soft-pedal guys would start to pay $200 a year.

Still an increase for me. It isn't whether you are soft or hard on the pedal, it is a matter of driving appropriately for the situation. Sometimes, mashing the throttle pedal can be the difference between life or death, sometimes the brake.

Both have kept me from getting killed.

If whoever is reading the data wasn't there, they can't know.

Last thing I need is the stinking government backseat driving. You won't find GPS in any of my vehicles, either.

Last month, I was offered a type of black box thing by Allstate, in return for a discount. It would monitor my driving for the 6 month period. I turned it down.
