I've known Boehner for over 25 years, see him at Rotary events in the area and golf at our golf course.
I have never seen John without a cigarette or martini in his hand. I don't think he's alcoholic, but a heavy drinker, typical of the German-Americans that populate the Cincinnati area. He is always under the influence, whether 9am or 9pm but I've never seen him drunk.

i would suggest that you have never seen him SOBER.
My mother was a stone alcoholic. She would imbibe on anything if it was cold enough. Good bourbon to cheap wine, it didn’t matter.
When she finally drank herself to death at 57, I was standing in line at the funeral home, greeting guests who came to pay their respects. Many of the little ladies who were there kept asking what my mother died from. I said acute alcoholism. They tried to tell me that my mother didn’t drink.
I told every one of them that they probably had NEVER seen my mother sober......
Even I hadn’t seen her sober many times in my 24 years.

Appreciate your insight, since you’ve been around him. I don’t have any personal animosity toward the guy, I’m just sick of all these careerists who spend 20-50 years in D.C. and despite the rotating parties in control, the country continues to go down the toilet.
If Boehner is not willing to stand up to BathHouse Barry, he should resign as Speaker. Since he is unwilling to do so, he should be deposed. We’ll just have to wait and see if some of the conservatives work up the courage to publicly take Boehner on.
