This is a numbers game--you have to have the numbers to defeat a Democrat and frankly, with the way you want to do it, you have to have the numbers to defeat both the Republicans AND the Democrats. It can't be done so the reality is that we all need to try to strengthen the Republican party because there is no other way.

Our problem is the American people. I don't know how you can expect miracles when well over 50% of the American people believe that Obama is on the right track with the economy.

There’s seldom one way for anything. My proposal gives the tea party four years, by getting them to settle on endorsements before the GOP primaries, to knock the GOP into shape. If that doesn’t work, the GOP is lost.

Meanwhile, all you need to know about our great GOP hopes of Rubio and Ryan is that David Brooks is gushing about them today.

Here he is describing Rubio’s decidely un-Republican proposals:

“Some were less conventional, at least as the Republican Party has recently defined itself: creating more community health centers, investing in more teacher training, embracing Pell grants.”
