Why doesn’t Boehner get two tax bills passed: one keeps the Bush tax rates for the lower brackets which Obama says he’ll sign and the other to keep the Bush rates for the upper brackets which Obama says he can’t possibly allow. Get both bills over to the Senate then leave and any tax increases will be totally on the rat party.
That’s probably about the best the hapless pubbies can hope for.
Obama, like most people who do not know what they are doing, has gone from one extreme to another.
in prior negotiations he conceded things early that he didn’t have to.
Now, his negotiating stance seems to start with republicans having to commit anatomically impossible acts!
i do think his main political goal (and possibly only goal) is to get the top marginal rate raised. in that case, he can get that by going over the fiscal cliff, and that is where i think we are going.
So, this weak proposal from Boehner likely won’t matter. I think by the time that we go over the cliff, it will be obvious that obama did it.

The House Republicans are playing with fire. They are being set up to do further damage not only to the republic but to the republican party as well. They have no business being weak on these issues since they have the majority control. If they want to solve issues, put real meaningful cuts and solutions in the game. They always have one thing in mind-keeping their jobs by not allowing the media to hurt them politically. They are sheltered up in Washington.
The government is broken due to the people up there. Capitalism has not been defended well by those on our side. It’s becoming crazy like to see so much corruption occur and no one follows up with the rule of law. My son seems to not care/oh, he cares but because the government is broken, he sees no reforms..so that generation will go along more-so than we do. It’s bad to see when you have a great message of reform and the people up there continue to please the media. In the future, we need to find a trusting reformer who will promise to bring up term limits legislation and go after the crony capitalism and cut the spending and bring government back in control and on side of the people. We need a revolution at the ballot box next time with the right reformer. Two choices-same old stuff or do something out of the box. Tea Party begin searching for real reformers. Just do that. Imo.
I wonder if it has occurred to the Speaker and the Majority Leader that they would not be Speaker and Majority Leader but for the guys they are busily throwing down the stairs (i.e., the TEA Party members elected in 2010).
