In a representative republic, we vote for the reps who in turn vote for the laws. A democratically elected legislature legalizing gay marriage doesnt sound like “forced” to me. Remember that NY voted to legalize abortion before Roe V Wade. My home state has been far gone for a long time.

Evil comes easy for some, it doesn’t need to be forced, as you stated. Although evil uses PC/lack of truth, intimidation, black mail - whatever it can to get what it wants from those without the strength to fight it.

Just the downstate part and Albany. Maybe Buffalo too (proximity to Canada, maybe?).

My plan for rectification of the country would make the outfall of the Croton River into the Hudson (and Staten Island) the furthest-south parts of New York State. The other boroughs and Long Island and Westchester -- and Chappaqua -- would all go with New England out of the Union so the rest of us could get some peace, and put our house in order.
