Northwesterners, over the decades, have amassed a gigantic pile of photographs of Spotted Owls ... nesting in barns, nesting in second growth timber, nesting in houses, pretty much everywhere but the habitat the "experts" say is required for them.
The experts, when presented with this evidence, scoffed and told the photographers that while they may have snapped a picture of a Spotted Owl, they know best. So all that evidence was thrown in the trash because, after all, normal people taking pictures of owls are not experts.
