I lived in Pa in the late 60s. Does the state still have a monopoly on package liquor stores?

I lived in Reading and that city of around 100,000 people had two liquor stores for the whole city.

Pennsylvania maintains state run liquor stores, still a legacy of prohibition. Our GOP governor talks of privatization next session, but the state employee unions which run the things are not going to give up easily.

Personally, I'd rather see the Governor tackle other priorities like allocating electoral votes by the congressional district method used by Maine and Nebraska.

It is actually a good thing to have a state employee union stand in opposition to something which is favored by something like 75% of our voters.
