HOUSTON (KTRK) -- One suspected robber is dead and another in the hospital after their intended robbery victim pulled a gun and shot them last night in southwest Houston.
It happened at an apartment complex on Medfield near Dairy Ashford. According to investigators, the suspects robbed the two men and took their car keys. They then reported tried to get the victims to drive them to the ATM to get more money, but their plan was cut short.
One of the victims apparently has a concealed handgun license. He pulled out his pistol and shot at all three suspects. Two were hit, one in the chest and the other in the stomach and legs. The third suspect got away.

Just love Texans!
Why would the author write this? Wouldn't it make more sense to say, "One of the victims had a handgun."
Stupid liberal journalist idiots. Regardless whether he had a permit or not, this was a pretty clear case of self defense. The victim didn't use the permit to kill the perps, he used a gun.
Just dumb.
How unfortunate... that they made the decision to rob the men via violence. They should have gotten government jobs, then they could have robbed them legally with less risk of getting shot. :P
How many cop shows on TV featured the line”you got a license for that” whenever the private detective or citizen used or showed a gun?
The socialists just can’t get the idea of a free people able to decide things for themselves without permission.
Naturally there is not a peep on a description of the bad guys.
Not necessarily. It shows that individuals who are legal gun owners are more likely to use their weapons responsibly (i.e. in self defense in this case) than individuals who use weapons to commit crimes.
However, the way it is written is pretty funky and awkward. You’re right. He didn’t shoot the perp with his license, he shot him with his gun.
These awful permits are killing poor defenseless criminals!
