As many as 1000 Service Employees International Union (SEIU) workers at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) are considering going on strike on Thanksgiving eve in what is the busiest travel day of the year.
Andrew Gross-Gaitan, the director of the Southern California Airports Division of SEIU, said the protest would be in response to an LAX contractor that failed to comply with the city’s Living Wage Ordinance.

They just convinced the California Electorate to raise Taxes on themselves to save the Teachers Union and they also convinced the Voters that Union Dues should be taken without permission and used to Elect Democrats.

Actually, California voted down Proposition 38 which was THE big tax increase for the teachers. Proposition 30 passed with a temporary (as if) half percent sales tax which will do nothing for the "poor" teachers of Cali which have made this State number one in failed education of late.
However, like you said and not unexpected, Proposition 32 (Political Contributions by Payroll Deduction) went down, so the unions one that one.
If not for my wife loving her job, we would be long gone. I've done the math of selling our home, minus commission, moving expenses, ancillary costs, and especially her lack of income, and for the time being it makes more sense to pay the 1/2 percent sales costs because the additional State income taxes won't affect us at our level. That's why many will still reside in this socialist State.
That said above, if my wife can find a new job in Arizona or Texas or even Nevada, we are gone...gone...gone. Our home is paid off due to my investment in raw land (I developed) and other investments, there is nothing here for us. It all depends on if my wife can find employment elsewhere because she doesn’t want to retire at her young age of 55. I don’t blame her. It’s boring being retired.
Hell they "transformed" GM, took down Hostess, and know that Obozo is no Ronald Reagan - they will continue to do damage with impunity as long as the current "balance" remains.

Yes, and I am president of the faculty union where I teach. We are part of MESA (Maine State Employees Association) which some years ago affilated with the SEIU. I have been able to keep the moonbat MESA officals at bay. However, we
are getting a new field representative-she came out the Wisconsin Teachers Union.
A good number of my colleagues are looking to decertify from MSEA and affiliate elsewhere.
How about if they just plain-old decertify, and work with a merit-based pay structure?
You might even be able to get rid of some crap that way.

We have cost of living raises for all faculty.
We do not have tenure!! Every faculty member has a performance review every five years (sooner if there are problems with teaching) and may be retained with merit,
retained, or terminated.

If you think about it, most travelers on the Holidays are able to afford their air tickets. They are working folks and this going to really p*ss them off. Messing with family arrangements is a bad thing no matter what the political persuasion. I actually hope the union does it so more can see how obstructive and unreasonable unions are.
I'm sure the 18,000 plus employees at Hostess are real happy about the Baker Union DELETING their jobs just before Christmas. Even the Teamsters had more sense and willing to take a small cut in pay and that is real news to me. Never seen the Teamsters so reasonable, but they lost - the Bakers Union won and those so-called bakers are so proud that they killed Hostess as they claim on various websites. "We showed them (Hostess)not to mess with us. That greedy company is now out of business."
Dumb sh*ts probably don't know that the obscene 99 weeks of Unemployment Insurance ends as of December 31st and reverts back to the States. But then they probably think that Bambi can extend it without Congressional approval. Oh, right, he can since Congress is now worthless and THE ONE has won again. What was I thinking? Commonsense? Hostess is actually run by big-time Democrat Tim Collins of vulture-capitalist Ripplewood Holdings, who relies on former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt.
Hostess has $2 billion in unfunded pension liabilities and was bankrupt a few years ago too.
Hostess execs were making ONE DOLLAR per year until recently. Dick Gephardt’s son is on the Board of Directors of Hostess.
Fire them. Then they can be ExLax.
