The roles of nurse pracitioners and physicians assistants will expand to include treatment of most routine illnesses and injuries.

We are inventing all kinds of doctor replacements — nurse practitioners, for example (sorry NPs). Pretty soon, anyone will be able to practice medicine as “doctors”.

You mean lower them further... Remember the affirmative action case that eventually went to the SCOTUS, the Bakke (sp?) case, where a more qualified white guy didn't get admission to a medical school, even though he was more than qualified. Instead, a far less qualified black guy was admitted in his place. Some years later, IIRC, the so called "affirmative action doctor" killed someone, and after quite a few complaints and lawsuits, has since lost his medical license.
