2/3 senate approval required for an appointee. It’ll take the demholes ten, or maybe as long as 15 minutes to find a dozen republican fools anxious to reach across the aisle and approve any loser Obama appoints.
He'll just appoint her during Congress' frequent recess breaks... and who's going to challenge him on that?
that long? wow.. you give them credit.
No! 2/3rds is needed for treaties and constitutional amendments. Only a majority is needed to confirm an appointee. If McCain can organize 41 GOPers to filibuster then he can stop the nomination from proceeding, but I doubt he could get 20. Of course if things had turned out we’d have the majority but Akin and Mourdock killed that as did losing in Dakota and Montana and Mass. That would have been 3 pickups and two holds. Alas it was not meant to be, still it’s nice to see McCain show a biy of the old fire.
Nope. It's simple majority vote. They can be filibustered, requiring 60 votes, under current rules. That's why GOP judges and others had so much trouble under W.
Yep...no shortage of limp-wristed traitorous republicans who will confirm anybody Erkle nominates, including my spineless senator Mike Crapo who was only too eager to vote to confirm the incompetent tax cheat little timmy geithner for sec treas.
To hell with all of them
No, simple majority for confirmation of Rice; it would take six Democrat defectors to stop her. She can’t be stopped unless something comes out that causes Obama to desert her.
Nope, just a simple majority. BUT it does take 3/5 to force a vote. GOP can block a confirmation vote with a filibuster.
