Petraeus told within last six weeks of probe that found affair
fox news ^ | 11/11/2012 | By Catherine Herridge

FBI investigators confronted then CIA Director David Petraeus within the last six weeks about his relationship with biographer Paula Broadwell, Fox News has learned -- a detail that comes as lawmakers complain they did not know about the issue until Petraeus resigned Friday.

A source, who is not authorized to speak on the record about the FBI investigation due to its sensitive nature, characterized the meeting between Petraeus and Bureau agents as “recent, and within the last six weeks.”

Asked when Broadwell was confronted, Fox News was told “a little before that.”

Asked why the FBI did not brief Congress immediately when Petraeus’ name surfaced within the scope of the investigation, the source said decisions on notification “should all play out next week” -- a reference to a half dozen Capitol Hill hearings and briefings on the Benghazi consulate attack.

Read the Constitution! Third in line would be the Speaker off the House. You need to go to Hillsdale.com and do the on line Constitution Course.

I think Obama is going to resign.

lol....no he's not. With Boehner in charge, he'll never be impeached, either.

Thank you for the recap. Is the administration afraid petraeus will testify and tell all about Libya?

How is this considered duty, honor, and country if he won’t testify to what occurred with Benghazi? I call that cowardice.

He may have been encouraged to go with the video route, but with his attitude about never blaming the islamo crazies for their own crazy behavior, I can see him believing that scenario.

No, he is a coward to say he needs to worry about his personal life now vs. testifying. That is such a pathetic excuse for a “warrior”.

if Petraeus has an ounce of honor

The West Point Cadet Code of Honor: "A Cadet will NOT LIE, cheat, or steal, nor tolerate anyone who does." Inasmuch as Petraeus has lied at least twice (blaming that obscure video for what occurred in Benghazi, and breaking his marriage vows), I fear you have your answer as to his 'honor' (or lack thereof)...

The video of Paula Broadwell at the University of Denver has her talking about duty, honor, country. It’s interesting.

He has demonstrated that potential. I hope his conscience is sufficiently pricked to lead him back to his oaths and his love of country.

He has demonstrated that potential.

He has, I believe, done much more than that. He has sacrificed the enduring (his integrity and honor) on the altar of the immediate. Since he has, by his own volition, sacrificed his integrity, I can no longer trust whatever testimony he would give in regards to Benghazi.

He may, in time give his testimony in regards to that incident, but even if his testimony were true, logical in my eyes, and in accord with what *I* personally believe to be the truth regarding the death of Ambassador Stevens, and the others, I would still be hesitant to accept it at face value.

Integrity, honor, once lost, is nearly impossible to regain...

It's bad enough 'Benghazi' is a major cover-up. 0bama couldn't even help himself from covering-up a subset of the cover-up.

0bama's failure to address the nation on Benghazi ALONE is grounds for impeachment. His flying off to Vegas would imply he knew Benghazi was a 'one off' and not more attacks to follow. How did he know that? It was a retaliatory HIT that's why.

I don’t think it’s in the Constitution that the Speaker succeeded the V.P., but in an 1886 law signed by Grover Cleveland.

If Obama resigned in disgrace, that would be better than him just losing the election. For the country, it would be better, as then his policies would have a taint, no matter what Dems say.

Put that firebrand with the funny hair, Cong. Trey Gowdy, in as Speaker. The guy is fearless. He's been all over Obama's and Holder's fannies in the Fast and Furious scandal.

He's got that deadeye look, wow, that I haven't seen since my last Clint Eastwood movie. I wouldn't want him on MY case!

Unless there is a leadership change in the House we’ll be lucky to even see a true investigation of Benghazi through to the end~impeachment is never going to happen.
