I will never sign up for government benefits. I know it’s an old-fashioned artifact these cynical post-modern days, to be sneered at as being stupid, not taking what’s there to be had, but there is such a concept as honor.

Does that include not signing up for Social Security?

I of course mean unearned and unnecessary welfare benefits, and at the rate it's going I'm not counting on SS. I mean that I will never sign up for poverty benefits rather than do anything I can to support myself, and certainly not with blitheness and no sense of shame. Shame is a good thing, it lets you know that you have a working conscience.

If the federal government will give me the SS payments back I have made over the years I will sign a contract to never take a dime of SS payments when I am elegible.

I won't even ask for interest on the money.
