Gasoline rationing begins in NYC; power outages continue to stymie recovery efforts (Bush's Fault!)

A new gasoline rationing plan that lets motorists fill up every other day went into effect in New York Friday morning as a nor'easter that knocked out power anew to hundreds of thousands of customers erased some of the progress made by utility crews.

Police were at gas stations to enforce the new system in New York City and on Long Island.

"This is designed to let everybody have a fair chance, so the lines aren't too oppressive and that we can get through this," Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.

The nor'easter brought gusting winds, rain and snow on Wednesday and early Thursday before it moved on. Snow blanketed several states from New York to New England and stymied recovery efforts from Superstorm Sandy as additional storm-weakened trees snapped and more power lines came down.

Hundreds of thousands of utility customers, mostly in New York and New Jersey, have been left waiting for their electricity to come back on — and some are losing patience, demanding investigations of utilities they say aren't working fast enough.

Hundreds of thousands of utility customers, mostly in New York and New Jersey, have been left waiting for their electricity to come back on — and some are losing patience, demanding investigations of utilities they say aren't working fast enough.

One step closer to demanding that the government take over the utilities, which will be one step closer to the government not only working even less quickly than a private entity, but also a step closer to making sure any former complainers shut up (if they know what's good for them).

How does this guy run for office with an "R" next to his name?

Fuel is rationed, the power`s out, it`s getting cold, FEMA`s nowhere in sight and there`s no food... but hey..

All is good... we have four more years of OBAMA! A little suffering is a small price to pay for all that celebratory warmth as you bask in the glow of the victory of socialism.

Cheer, comrades. That`s an order.

Maybe they can harvest the wind from all of the blowhards over there?

And aren’t they like supposed to be so eco-friendly? Why do they need that awful fossil fuel gunk anyway?

Walk! Take a bike to work! It’s GRRRRRREEEEEEEEEEN!

(Even in the cold of a whiteout blizzard. Muahahahahaha!)

The investigation should be on the utility workers unions, which have been proven to have given contracts to workers coming into New Jersey and New York - that they couldn’t help unless they joined the union for a month and paid dues. So the help went to other states or went home.

Where’s Gov. Cuomo? It’s like if he ignores this whole mess, it will go away.

He would like to start laying the groundwork for a 2016 bid, but he’s afraid to show his face.

If you want to get rid of the shortage, allow the free market to work. If prices were allowed to rise to $5-10 per gallon, lines would disappear as consumers cut back on purchases. The high prices would decrease hoarding. Supply would increase as higher prices increase the incentives to ship fuel from other regions to the area affected by hurricane Sandy.

But, but, but - wait a minute; all their politicians have told everyone that a big junk of their fuel-tax money should be spent on “mass transit”, so where’s all the extra trains?? Don’t they all really prefer to just walk to a train or bus stop than to get in a car??? That’s what their politicians have told everyone.
